Please do share this call through your networks. On social media I use #sofizine. If you have keen students I am always pleased to talk to them about the project, so feel free to get in touch.
Undisciplining II: The Sociological Review Foundation is running their amazing conference again this year, in Salford, UK, from September 10-12. I’ve been part of the organising committee and I am so looking forward to the event — it is absolutely packed with creative provocations that expand the idea and the work of public sociology. If you’re interested in thinking critically about engaging beyond academia, interdisciplinary ways of working, and connecting with people who care a whole heap about doing sociological work that makes a positive difference in society, then this is a conference for you. I’ll be there, running a workshop on sociological storytelling (literary lessons for innovative and traditional forms of academic publishing), and also speaking on the opening plenary. Early bird tickets close this week, which you can buy here.
Earlier this year, I published a round-up of all the great fiction published in The Sociological Review in 2023. I can’t wait to share the stories of 2024. The first of the year is out now, ‘Health Care: Free at the Point of Delivery’ by Mary O’Neill.
Submissions to this series are always open. You can find the details here.
